Why I’m a Steward: I am retired and live very close to Lake Smetana. I enjoy being outside and making the area around the lake pleasing to the eye. My motivation to get involved was due to buckthorn blocking the view of the lake from the various benches around the lake. I cleared them and went from there. Also, picking up as much trash as I can that blows into the lake and along the path surrounding the lake.

Invasive species control- clear and control buckthorn
Monitoring- monitor the areas of buckthorn removal to best keep it from reoccuring
