Buckthorn Bust and Burn at Eden Prairie Outdoor Center

Join Us for One Last Buckthorn “Bust and Burn” in 2025!

Wrap up the year with purpose! Join us on December 20th from 1:00pm – 4:30pm at the Eden Prairie Outdoor Center (13765 Staring Lake Pkwy) for an afternoon of buckthorn removal, community connection, and marshmallows by the fire.

Come dressed for the weather and ready to help clear buckthorn along the woodland paths near the Outdoor Center. Battery-powered reciprocating tools such as pruners are allowed. Additional pruning saws and loppers will be available to borrow. 

At 2:00pm, the City of Eden Prairie will demonstrate their new biochar kiln, and we’ll burn the removed buckthorn to create nutrient-rich biochar for spring planting projects.

We’ll finish strong with s’mores at 4:00pm—a sweet reward for a job well done!
